What Does the Bible Say About Marriage Relations

The Bible has something to say about marriage relations. It bears witness to what you know in your heart. It gives overall overarching principles. What it says is often very obvious to anyone with common sense. It commands us to flee fornication, avoid adultery and not get (generally)divorced.

Just as important are the basic principles for dealing with our fellow human beings, such as to be kind, patient, forgiving and so on.

I will never forget what Ann Landers once said. She said that we should be a polite to our family members as we are to our colleagues and associates. Many times we are polite at work (or to strangers) but we come home and snipe, snicker, and act rude to our beloved family.
Where many Christians fail and fall is when it comes to delicate little moments: when we are dealing with our wife, husband or child. Remember where Christ said in the Bible that when you are hauled before the authorities, not to pre-plan what to say because the holy Spirit would give you the right words?

Well, how about some delicate moment when you, as a mom or dad, are dealing with your child? Wouldn't it be best to look into your heart for the right thing to say or do, rather than reach into your intellect to dreg up some memorized thing you heard somewhere?

I'm sorry to say that many parents and spouses look to the intellect for some clever thing to say rather than humbly make silent inquiry of God for guidance.

Here are some Scriptures that remind us to be patient, kind, loving and respectful.

Here Is what Paul has To say In Colossians Chapter 3:
Love and forgiveness strengthten, maintain, and heal relationships

12 So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;

13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.

14 Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.

16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

17 Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

Here's what Paul has to say about family relations

18 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be embittered against them.

20 Children, be obedient to your parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing to the Lord.

21 Fathers, do not exasperate your children, so that they will not lose heart.
